Abutilon
Abutilon are an old fashioned plant which tended to be a bit sprawly, we have given them an upgrade for our times. Our “Lucky Lantern” series distributed by Planthaven in the USA and Greenhills in Australia are compact and well branched with super heat tolerance to flower all summer. Their lantern style flowers can be admired particularly in a taller pot.
Callistemon
Callistemon are a very popular Australian native for both commercial landscape and home gardens. We applied a breeding philosophy we coined “Functional Breeding” where we select for the habit of the plant in particular so that if a consumer wants to say screen or hedge- the plant will perform this function easily without too much intervention. A good example is our variety “Slim” which stays naturally slim so makes a great low maintenance hedge. Available in Australia from OZbreed and in the USA also.
Dianella
Dianella is actually a lilly but has a grass like appearance. They have become very popular in landscape applications. We created inter and intra species hybrids to bring the best attributes of various species together. “Clarity Blue” available from OZBreed and “Streetscape” from “Sprint” are two examples sold in Australia and internationally.
Westringia
Westringia is another popular native plant that needs regular trimming often leaving the plant with dead sections which do not regrow. We have bred a series also available from OZbreed in Australia and internationally. Here again we bred with function in mind such as groundcovers and compact bushes for smaller gardens and spaces.
